ovt.College of Fine Arts Thrissur, affiliated to Calicut University is a major art institution in Kerala. It has a legacy of imparting basic inspiration and art environment to some major Indian artists in their early stage of student life here in Kerala. It is also the first platform of 'artist life' for generations of designers and other art practiioners scattered across the world today. So the eventful final year degree shows of this college capture nationwide attention of art community that generally keeps a serious watch on promising talents from art institutions.

'36 degree C'

showcases 140 art works, painting, sculpture, graphic prints and applied art by the students passing out in the academic year 2009-10. All these works adress fundamental efforts of young minds to articulate some creative problem or the other. For them this degree show is an initiation process into a larger art community and a breadth of further academic challenges. In the everyday college ambience they very well learn to jell with a feeling of sharing and mutual critiquing. Resultant team work of the whole college community actually realises the final year show, this time it is 36 DegreeC. India's significant artists join them as a great source of inspiration.

Striking feature of this group is their critical energy and freshness. Living through an impasse in the general world ambience, quite consciously these students try to find an exciting new spirit that they may drive into a new art world in the coming years. It is important to live out the frictions of times as these works shown are of students aspiring to experiment evolve and project the best that thrive up the beat.
